Therapeutic Bodywork and Wellness Guidance
We All Need Help Sometimes
Your body is always communicating with you.
Those subtle signals—tension that lingers, movement that feels harder than it should, discomfort you can't quite shake—aren't failures. They're invitations to listen and to seek help maintaining or regaining wellness.
Life moves fast, and it's easy to override what your body is telling you. But here's what I've learned in over two decades of therapeutic bodywork: your body wants to heal. It's designed to adapt, to restore, to return to ease. In fact you cannot stop it from getting better with whatever resources it has. Sometimes it just needs the right support and resources to do what it already knows how to do.
Change is constant—and that means healing is always possible.
Whether you're dealing with chronic tension, recovering from injury, or simply want to stay ahead of the curve, therapeutic bodywork can help you work with your body's innate intelligence rather than against it.
You don't have to push through pain. You don't have to accept discomfort as your new normal. You can lean into support, get better and come back to balance that sustains.
I specialize in helping your nervous system find safety, your connective tissue find freedom, and your whole self find relief.
With a client-centered approach that honors your body's wisdom and your unique life experiences, we'll create the conditions for real, lasting change.

Marty Wyrding
I am a licensed massage therapist, massage instructor, certified movement therapist, wellness guide and the creator of the SMART system of therapeutic bodywork.
My practice spans more than 20 years and countless personal evolutions. What put me on the path was having to learn my way out of chronic pain and into a healthy body and mind. That journey developed into a lifelong passion for helping others grow, heal, and thrive.
Over the decades, I’ve continuously refined and expanded my work, weaving together dozens of modalities into a seamless, integrated approach to bodywork, movement, and transformational change. Eventually I learned to bridge the gaps between all forms of bodywork and synthesized an approach that produces sustainable lasting results.

SMART
Sensory Motor Adaptive Remodeling Therapy (SMART) represents the culmination of decades spent bridging the gaps between bodywork modalities. As both a Licensed Massage Therapist and Massage Therapy Instructor with extensive experience in a host of therapeutic techniques including trauma-informed practice, connective tissue work, and nervous system regulation, I've learned a fundamental truth: sustainable therapeutic outcomes don't come from perfecting single techniques—they come from understanding when and how to integrate them.
SMART operates on a simple but powerful set of principles: your body is a territory that's constantly changing, and your nervous system holds the map of that territory. When you're stressed, injured, or adapting to new demands (hello, working from home), your system draws new boundaries—tightness here, protection there, compensation patterns everywhere. Those maps made sense when they were created. But bodies heal, circumstances change, and when the maps don’t update you develop more complicated issues.
Here's what makes this urgent: your body is constantly remodeling itself based on how you use it. When your maps are inaccurate—when your nervous system treats a healed injury as still dangerous, maintains protective patterns you no longer need, treats daily life as if it’s full of trauma potential—you don't just experience tension, pain, and decreased abilities. The longer you operate from these outdated maps, the more your physical body reshapes itself to match them. Compensation patterns become structural. Protective tension becomes permanent restriction. Trauma reactivity becomes how you move through the world. What started as a healthy protective response, become a neurological misunderstanding, and then turns into physical restrictions. Eventually you get stuck in the middle, between bad maps and a body that is riddled with physical adaptations that do not serve your wellbeing.
That neck tension from your startup years? The hip restriction from that trail running injury? The anxiety you hold in your chest? These aren't separate problems requiring separate solutions. They're all evidence of maps that need remodeling—and a body that needs you to update them in order to change shape and thrive.
SMART reintegrates you and allows your body’s innate adaptive abilities to reshape you for health and longevity.

Each session is tailored to what your body needs that day. You can expect hands-on connective tissue work, therapeutic movement, and nervous system regulation techniques—all designed to work with your body's natural healing capacity, facilitating rather than forcing change.
But the foundation of every session goes deeper than technique: you'll be met with safety, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. These aren't just nice ideas—they're the therapeutic ground from which all lasting change grows. When your nervous system feels safe, your body can actually do the adaptive work it's been trying to do all along.
We'll work collaboratively, listening to what body is communicating and responding accordingly. This isn't about following a protocol—it's about creating the conditions for your system to restore itself, and helping you get better at doing that every day.

Tune Ups use the same therapeutic foundation as Depth sessions—safety, empathy, and unconditional positive regard—but with a lighter touch. Think of them as maintenance and subtle rebalancing rather than deep change work.
I offer Tune Ups for several reasons:
Maintenance – Many clients have addressed their major patterns and just need support staying balanced and responsive to what life throws at them. Also, between Depth sessions often lighter work can be supportive of long standing patterns clients are working toward change on.
Prevention – Some people come to me already doing well in their bodies and want to stay that way. Regular tune ups help you stay ahead of tension before it becomes a problem.
Building toward deeper work – If you're new to therapeutic bodywork or not quite ready for intensive sessions, Tune Ups offer a gentler entry point. We can build trust and rapport while creating momentum, so when you're ready to address longer-standing patterns, you'll have the foundation to do that work effectively.
Tune Ups are still therapeutic—they're just calibrated for where you are right now.
